Erkutay,

We recently met you at the Miami Boat Show and I we talked about an experience we had with our Ultra Anchor.

On November 12, 2018, we were anchored in a small anchorage in Moorhead City NC.  We have an *Ultra 21 anchor with all chain anchor rode.  We had laid out a scope of 5 to 1 based on the water current in this anchorage. At 0400 that morning, we had been anchored for about 12 hours when we were wakened by an alarm sounding on our cell phones for a tornado warning in our area.

Shortly there after the storm made landfall a very short distance from our anchorage.  We were in total darkness and not able to see any sign of the twister approaching.  We were up, dressed in our personal flotation devices and fowl weather gear with the boat’s engine running.  We were preparing for the worst.  The winds had been blowing from the south between 15 to 20 mph since we anchored.  Our Ultra Anchor was dug in and doing what is supposed to do.  Holding us in position agains the wind and current.

At 0430, the wind dropped to zero, turned 90 degrees and immediately shot up to over 40 mph.  The boat spun the boat 180 degrees from our original position and stayed at this position for 10-15 minutes.   When the sustained wind gust passed, the boat swung back to our anchored position.  The Ultra totally totally, totally did its job.  We returned to the exact location where we dropped the anchor originally.

I have attached a couple of pictures from our chart plotter of our anchored position, the location of the 180 degree location and the storm on the radar during the storm.

We were always comfortable that our Ultra anchor would hold us in our anchored position during normal conditions.  Now, we know what it will do to keep us safely anchored under extreme conditions.  We just can’t say enough good thing about your anchors.

 Thank you
